Takapuna Boating Club The project brief was to create a three level, multi purpose boating at Takapuna Beach. Resource consent required the new building to remain within the envelope of the existing house, which had been used as a boating club for the last 12 years. Francis Group Architects were commissioned to provide building consent drawings with the selected contractor to run the project on a design build basis. The budget was constrained and further tested by significant piling and sub soil conditions. Being beach front the club maximizes panoramic views of the Hauraki Gulf and foreshore and respects the existing natural environment including the mature Pohutukawa trees that occupy the beachscape. Included within the club are quieter areas , general club space with full commercial kitchen, toilets, office and boating space. The lower level has boat storage, changing facilities and wet area amenities. Generous decks and terraces are orientated to the seaward side of the building. |
